San Francisco Police Make Arrest in Park District Shooting 21-014

On Saturday, January 16, 2021, at approximately 5:48 AM, San Francisco Police officers assigned to Park Station responded to the unit block of Sanchez Street for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located a 43-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim told officers that he heard noises coming from a vehicle on Sanchez Street. The victim said he went to inspect the noise when he was confronted by the suspect. The suspect accused the victim of attempting to steal his car and an argument ensued. The suspect then produced a firearm and shot the victim. The victim fled on foot in fear of suffering further harm.

Investigators from the SFPD Night Investigations Unit developed information that led to the identity of the suspect, 44-year-old Haleem Williams of San Francisco. On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, Williams was taken into custody at the intersection of Lombard and Pierce Streets by members of the SFPD Night Investigations Unit and Special Investigations Unit. Williams was transported to San Francisco County Jail and booked on charges of assault with a firearm (245(a)(2) PC) and felon in possession of a firearm (29800(a)(1) PC).
