San Francisco Police Make Arrest in Child Abuse Investigation 18-017

In early January 2018, the San Francisco Police Department’s Special Victims Unit launched an investigation into a report of a child abuse case involving a minor at a elementary school in the Mission District.

As a result of SFPD’s investigation, a suspect was identified and a San Francisco District Attorney's Warrant was issued for Andres Tobar, a 47 year-old South San Francisco resident.

On January 30, 2018 at approximately 11:35 AM Tobar turned himself into the San Francisco Police Department. Tobar was placed under arrest and booked into the San Francisco County Jail for felony child endangerment/abuse. A booking photo accompanies this news release.

Tobar is an employee of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). If you believe you may have been a victim or had any suspicious contact with the subject please contact the San Francisco Police Special Victim's Unit (415) 558-5500.
