San Francisco Police Make Arrest in April Tenderloin Homicide Investigation 21-088

On Thursday April 29, 2021, at approximately 4:49 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from Tenderloin Station responded to the area of Market and Mason Streets for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts one of the victims, 27-year-old Kenny Reed of Oakland, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two other victims, a 26-year-old male and 32-year-old male, both of San Francisco, were transported to a local hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries.

Through the course of an investigation, investigators in the San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail identified the suspect as Najee Ard, 31, of San Francisco.   On May 4, 2021 at approximately 11:14 AM, SFPD officers took Ard into custody in Antioch, CA.  He was later booked into the San Francisco County Jail on a warrant for murder (187(a) (1) PC), aggravated assault with a firearm (245(a)(2) PC) and a probation violation (1203.2(a) PC).  Ard is on felony probation for a prior conviction of evading a peace officer / reckless driving (2800.2(a) VC).
