The 287th Recruit Class has 27 members who have earned bachelor’s degrees, seven who have earned associate degrees, and one who has earned a master’s degree. Members of the class have previously been employed as crime analysts, a lab scientist, a software engineer, security personnel, and police cadets, to name a few. Five officers have served in the United States military in branches such as the US Army, Army National Guard, and US Air Force.
“I want to congratulate the 41 graduating Recruit Officers of Class 287 for completing eight months of Academy training,” said Police Chief Derrick Lew. “Their commitment to this profession and the City of San Francisco is truly noble. The graduation of Class 287 also represents a major step towards SFPD’s goal of becoming a fully staffed police department. SFPD will continue to work alongside Mayor Lurie on his Rebuilding the Ranks initiative.”
The graduation ceremony will take place at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center located at 2850 19th Avenue in San Francisco at 6:00 p.m.
The 287th Recruit Class has completed 33 weeks of training. Following graduation, the newly sworn SFPD officers will begin a 16-week field-training program at various district stations.
Rebuilding the Ranks
