San Francisco Police Arrest Suspect in Multiple Hit-And-Run Collisions 19-070
On Wednesday, May 29 2019 at approximately 1:56PM, San Francisco Police Department foot beat officers from Tenderloin Station observed a vehicle at the intersection of Eddy and Leavenworth Streets. The officers conducted a records check of the license plate and determined it to be a stolen vehicle.
The vehicle continued eastbound on Eddy Street and stopped in front of Tenderloin Station. Officers approached the vehicle on foot, at which point the driver attempted to flee and crashed into a nearby building, striking one pedestrian. The driver repeatedly reversed and accelerated in an attempt to leave the scene, striking multiple vehicles including one police car and nearly hitting several police officers.
The vehicle continued eastbound on Eddy Street and struck one pedestrian in the crosswalk at Taylor Street, causing the pedestrian to sustain life threatening injuries. The driver continued down Eddy Street and collided with two vehicles at 5th and Market Streets, causing non-life threatening injuries to two victims.
The suspect continued to 5th and Clara Streets, and collided with another vehicle, causing an occupant of that vehicle to sustain non-life threatening injuries. The suspect drove to 6th and Clara Streets and struck another vehicle, causing the occupant of the vehicle to also sustain non-life threatening injuries. Responding officers apprehended the suspect at 6th and Clara and transported her to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. SFPD’s Crime Scene Investigations and Traffic Collision Investigation Unit arrived and processed the scene.
