San Francisco Police Arrest SOMA Homicide Suspect 21-145

On Saturday, July 31, 2021, at approximately 11:42 a.m., a 30-year-old male entered Richmond Police Station and told officers that he wished to be arrested because he had just stabbed someone. The suspect, identified as Ryan Souva of San Francisco, stated that the incident occurred inside an apartment on the 1500 block of Folsom Street. Officers detained Souva and contacted officers from SFPD’s Southern Station to conduct a well-being check on the possible victim in his residence. Officers made entry into the apartment and located the victim, a 76-year-old male, suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is being led by the SFPD Homicide Detail. Souva was later transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked on one count of murder (187(a) PC).

While an arrest has been made, this remains an active investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
