San Francisco Police Arrest Multiple Robbery Suspects 21-100

On May 14, 2021 at approximately 2:53 pm officers responded to a bus stop located at Geary Blvd. & Fillmore St. regarding a report of a robbery that just occurred. Officers arrived on scene and met with the 68-year-old Asian male victim. The victim was waiting for the bus when a male approached the victim, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded his wristwatch. The suspect grabbed the victim, forced him to the ground, and struggled with him over his watch, which caused scratches to the victim’s arm. The victim resisted the suspect’s attempt to remove the watch and the suspect eventually let go of the victim. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle. At approximately 5:42 pm officers located the suspect vehicle unoccupied at Leavenworth St. & Turk St., but were unable to locate the suspect. The SFPD Robbery Detail took over the investigation and released a Crime Alert to identify and locate the suspect. On May 21, 2021 at approximately 8:30 am Tenderloin officers identified the suspect as 24-year-old Pete Vines. At approximately 2:00 pm SFPD Robbery Detail investigators observed Vines on Leavenworth St. at Golden Gate Ave. The investigators notified nearby officers of the wanted suspect. Tenderloin officers arrived and arrested Vines without incident for attempted robbery (664/211 PC), elder abuse (368(b)(1) PC), and using a deadly weapon in the commission of an attempted felony (12022(b)(1) PC).        

On May 21, 2021 at approximately 9:00 am officers responded to Hickory & Gough Streets regarding a robbery that just occurred. Officers arrived on scene and met with the 83-year-old  

Asian female victim who was walking when a person approached her from behind and began pulling on her purse. The victim and suspect were engaged in a “tug of war” over the purse that forced the victim to travel some distance and caused non-life-threatening injuries, which were treated at a local hospital. A good Samaritan ran over to assist the victim and the suspect fled the scene on foot. Additional officers arrived on scene, located and detained a person matching the suspect description provided by the victim and witnesses. Through the course of the investigation officers developed probable cause to arrest Christopher Nadon, 40-year-old male from Rohnert Park, CA for attempted robbery (664/211 PC), false imprisonment (236 PC), elder abuse (368(b)(1) PC), kidnapping (207(a) PC), and assault & battery (242 PC). 

On May 21, 2021 at approximately 12:18 pm Tenderloin officers on patrol on the 500 block of Market Street observed a male chasing another male while yelling for him to stop. Officers immediately ordered the male subject to get on the ground, but the male turned toward the officers, dropped a tote bag and cellphone and advanced toward the officers. Officers were forced to take the male to the ground and detained him. The officers gathered the cell phone and tote bag and spoke with the male who was chasing the subject. The male stated that he witnessed the subject steal the phone and bag from a female at Sansome & Sutter Streets. The witness returned to the original location of the incident, found the victim and brought her to the officers who were with the suspect. The victim was a 65-year-old Asian female who was approached by a male who grabbed her purse. A struggle over the purse ensued. During the struggle the suspect stole the victim’s tote bag and cellphone and the suspect fled the scene on foot. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect identified as Ryan Preston, 31-year-old male from San Francisco. Preston was arrested and booked for robbery (211 PC), elder abuse (368(b)(1) PC), and possession of stolen property (496(a) PC).
