San Francisco Police Arrest Mission District Assault Suspects 23-027

On February 12, 2023, at approximately 3:54 p.m., San Francisco Police Officers from Mission station responded to a call for an assault that had just occurred at 18th and Dolores Streets. Officers arrived on scene and met with two adult victims who stated that while they were walking on 18th St. two females riding electric scooters rode into them. The two female suspects got off the scooters and continued to attack the victims by punching them, which caused injuries to both victims. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. One victim was transported to the hospital for fractures caused by the assault.

The San Francisco Police Department General Work investigators took over the investigation. Through the course of the investigation the suspects were identified, and investigators created a crime bulletin to locate the suspects.

On February 15, 2023, investigators discovered that one suspect, identified as a 17-year-old female was in custody in Alameda County for an unrelated incident. An SFPD investigator who was investigating the suspect for a different aggravated assault that occurred on December 15, 2022, on the 1400 block of Market St. discovered that the suspect was to be released from custody. Investigators responded to Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center and took custody of the suspect and transported her to San Francisco Juvenile Justice Center (JJC). Investigators developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for felony charges of battery causing serious injury (243(d) PC) and assault by any means of force likely to produce great bodily injury (245(a)(4) PC).

On February 25, 2023, at approximately 5:40 p.m. Mission Station patrol officers recognized the second suspect identified in the investigator’s crime bulletin and observed her at 24th and Mission Streets. Officers detained the suspect without incident and developed probable cause to arrest her. Officers transported the 17-year-old female to JJC where she was booked for the felony charge of aggravated assault (245 (a)(4) PC).

While arrests have been made, this remains an open investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the San Francisco Police Department SFPD 24-hour-tip line at 1-415-575-4444, or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
