San Francisco Police Arrest Homicide Suspect 20-046

On Sunday, March 29, 2020, at approximately 0758 hours, San Francisco Police officers responded to the 1500 block of Lombard Street for a report of a battery. Officers met with a 67-year-old male who told them that he had just been the victim of an assault on the unit block of 6th Street. The victim told officers that he was assaulted by an unknown male. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

On April 30, 2020, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of San Francisco determined that the victim died as a result of the assault and deemed the incident a homicide. The SFPD's Homicide Detail was assigned the case and their investigation led to the identity of a suspect, 62-year-old Wayne Waddell of San Francisco. On Friday, May 1, 2020, Waddell was taken into custody and was booked at San Francisco County Jail on charges of Homicide (187(a) PC) and Crime against an Elder (368(b)(3)(A) PC).
