San Francisco Police Arrest Garage Burglar 21-047

On December 13, 2020 San Francisco Police officers from Richmond Station responded to the 1600 block of Lyon Street for a report of a burglary. Officers met with the victim who told officers that his garage was broken into during the night and three of his bicycles were stolen. Officers obtained video surveillance, which showed three suspects forcibly enter the victim’s garage, take the bicycles, and flee.

On January 1, 2021 San Francisco Police officers from Taraval Station responded to the 1500 block of 8th Avenue for a report of a burglary. Officers mt with the victims who said that at approximately 7:00 a.m. they received an alert from their security system that there was activity in their garage. The victims went to their garage, found the door open and determined that a bike was taken.

On January 30, 2021 San Francisco Police officers from Northern Station responded to the 1600 block of Bay Street regarding a burglary. Officers met with the victim who told officers that her garage was broken into during the night and a bicycle was stolen. Officers obtained video surveillance, which showed two suspects forcibly enter the victim’s garage, take a bicycle, and flee.

Believing that the incidents were related the SFPD Burglary Unit took over the investigation. Investigators identified one of the suspects connected to all three incidents as 26-year-old Alberto Cauich of San Francisco. On February 9, 2021 investigators served a search warrant on the 400 block of Jones Street where Cauich was taken into custody without incident.

Cauich was later transported to San Francisco County Jail and booked on three counts of first-degree burglary (459 PC).

While an arrest has been made, this remains an open investigation.
