San Francisco Police Arrest Chinatown Stabbing Suspect 23-061

On Monday, May 29, 2023, at approximately 9:50 a.m., San Francisco Police officers assigned to Central station responded to a business located on the 1000 block of Stockton Street on a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult female victim with an apparent stab wound.  Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene who transported the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.   

Officers detained a possible suspect upon arrival at the scene. During the course of the investigation officers developed probable cause to arrest the male suspect, identified as 61-year-old male from San Francisco, Fook Poy Lai. Lai was transported to the San Francisco County Jail where he was booked for attempted homicide (664/187 PC), assault with a deadly weapon (245(a)(1) PC), burglary (459 PC (2nd), and parole violation (3056 PC).
