San Francisco Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect 20-050

On Sunday, March 15, 2020, the San Francisco Police took a report at Mission Station of an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 11:15 PM on the 2300 block of 16th Street. The victim was standing at an automated teller machine (ATM) when a female approached him, brandished a handgun, and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspect took US Currency from the victim and fled on foot. 

On Monday, March 16, 2020, at approximately 4:55 AM, San Francisco Police officers were flagged down by a taxi cab driver who stated that he was a victim of an armed robbery that occurred at 20th Street and Shotwell St. The victim was hailed down for a fare and picked up two females and drove them to their requested destination of 20th St. and Shotwell St. While the victim was stopped at the destination one of the females brandished a handgun, demanded money and threatened the victim. The victim complied by giving the suspect money and fled from the scene in the taxi cab. 

SFPD Robbery investigators identified the suspect as 44 year-old San Francisco resident, Lasonya Wells, and issued a SFPD Crime Alert. On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at approximately 10:11 AM, on duty officers from Mission Station made contact with Wells at 16th Street and Wiese Street based on the Crime Alert and placed her into custody. Wells was booked for the felony charges of two counts of robbery (211 PC) and a probation violation (1203.2(a) PC). 

On Wednesday, April 29, 2020, a report of a robbery occurred at approximately 8:00 AM at 25th Street and Dakota Street. The victim was a taxi cab driver who picked up a female passenger in the Mission District and drove to the requested destination of 25th St. and Dakota St. Upon arrival to the destination the passenger pointed a handgun into the victim’s side and demanded the victim’s money. The victim did not give the suspect money and the suspect fled on foot. The investigation determined the identity of the suspect as Lasonya Wells and another SFPD Crime Alert was issued for her arrest. 

On Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at approximately 7:47 AM on duty officers from Mission Station were on patrol at 17th Street and Mission Street when they recognized Wells from the April 29th Crime Alert. The officers confirmed Wells’ identity and placed her into custody. During the arrest search of Wells officers found Wells in possession of a replica firearm and pepper spray. Wells was booked for the felony charges of attempted robbery (664/211 PC), armed with a firearm in the commission of a felony (12022(a)(1) PC), committing a crime while released on bail (12022.1(a)(1) PC), and convicted felon in possession of tear gas (22810(a) PC).
