Police Locate Wanted Homicide Suspect Robert Newt 21-095(b)

On May 15, 2021, at approximately 10:08 am, San Francisco Police officers from Bayview District Police Station responded to the area of 25th and Connecticut Streets regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 61-year-old male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

On May 15, 2021, at approximately 12:26 pm, San Francisco Police officers were in the area investigating the earlier homicide when they responded a report of shots fired on the unit block of Dakota Street. Officers located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims, ages 49 and 54, were transported to a local hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the 54-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries. The 49-year-old victim was hospitalized and later released.

Investigators from the SFPD Homicide Detail took over both investigations and identified 32-year-old Robert Newt as the suspect in both incidents. Two arrest warrants were issued, one for murder, and the second for murder and attempted murder. In addition, Newt had a federal warrant issued for firearms-related charges.

On Saturday, June 26, 2021, Robert Newt was located by Livermore Police officers and was taken into custody. Newt was transported to Santa Rita Jail where he was booked on his warrants. Newt will be transported to the custody of San Francisco County Sheriff’s at a later date.
