Officer Involved Shooting 900 block Connecticut

At approximately 7:50 PM, Plainclothes officers were working violence suppression on the 900 block of Connecticut. Officers saw a group of 5 males huddled in a group behaving suspiciously. Two Officers exited their vehicle to get a better vantage point on the suspects. The suspects split up into two groups. Four suspects were followed by one Officer and one suspect was followed by another Officer. The single suspect turned on the Officer and produced a handgun. The Officer drew his firearm and ordered the suspect to drop his gun. The suspect did not comply with the Officer's order. The suspect advanced on the Officer. The Officer fired at the suspect striking him once in the the upper body. The suspect was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The suspect had suspected narcotics in his possession. The gun is believed to be a loaded .38 caliber.

The four other suspects were detained. One of the four suspects also had suspected narcotics in his possession.

The investigation will continue through the night. The involved Officer will be placed on paid administrative leave per department policy.
