Gary Kunaboot

Officer Kunaboot was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco and his family owned a Thai restaurant for 22 years in the Ingleside District.

Officer Kunaboot attended Mills High School in Millbrae, CA and graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

In 2014, he joined the San Francisco Police Department. After graduating from the Police Academy, he was assigned to Northern Station for field training. After field training, he was assigned to Mission Station for his probation station. After probation, he assigned to Central Station as his permanent assignment and he is currently one of our Union Square Foot Beat officers.

Officer Kunaboot’s favorite thing about Central is getting to meet new people and a chance to interact with people from different backgrounds daily. It gives him a chance to engage with the community, reduce crime, and to make a more enjoyable experience for visitors coming to San Francisco.

Officer Kunaboot is Crisis Intervention Trained and he is looking forward to becoming a specialist or a Field Training Officer in the near future.
