Central Station Newsletter - September 19, 2018

In the past few months I have been responding to a growing number of email complaints regarding issues related to an increase of homeless persons migrating into the Central District. The complaints range from persons sleeping on sidewalks to persons displaying strange, erratic and sometimes criminal behavior.

Many of the complaints include comments expressing frustration and anger that the police are not responsive and fail to take any action. Even worse, people share that they don’t feel safe in their own neighborhoods. I have dedicated a number of resources, Homeless Outreach, Foot beat, Housing, Plainclothes and school resource officers, in addition to my daily patrol officers to address the crime and quality of life concerns in North Beach and throughout the Central District.
