Aggravated Assault Suspect Self-Surrenders #26-018(b)

On February 8, 2026, two victims walked into Northern District Police station to report a physical assault that occurred in the early morning hours of the same date.

The victims reported they were standing in front of a business located on the 3100 block of Fillmore Street when they were approached by a group of unknown male subjects. After a brief verbal altercation with the subjects, the victims walked away. Soon after, the subjects approached the victims again on the 2000 block of Union Street and physically assaulted them. Both of the victims sustained extensive injuries and were hospitalized as a result. Following the incident, the SFPD issued a request for public assistance to identify the subjects.

With the help of the public, investigators were able to positively identify the two male individuals from the incident. Investigators developed probable cause to issue an arrest warrant for one of the subjects, William Lyons. Through the course of the investigation, the other subject was no longer considered a person of interest.

On March 23, 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., 21-year-old William Lyons of Sacramento self-surrendered without incident at San Francisco County Jail and was booked for assault likely to produce great bodily injury 245(a)(4) PC.

While an arrest has been made, this is still an open and active investigation. Anyone with information should contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text-A-Tip to TIP411, beginning your message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
