SFPD Investigates Central District Homicide #26-019
Victim was Assaulted and Robbed
On February 5, 2026, an injured person was transported by medics to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries from Bush and Taylor streets. Due to the nature of the injuries, officers from Central Police Station responded to the hospital and began an investigation. Through the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the victim was assaulted and robbed by a suspect at Bush and Taylor.
The SFPD Strategic Investigations Unit (SIU) took over the investigation, identified the suspect, and issued a crime alert to locate and arrest the suspect.
On February 19, 2026, at approximately 11:40 a.m. SFPD officers assigned to the city-wide plainclothes team observed the suspect on Leavenworth and Eddy streets in possession of narcotics paraphernalia and detained him. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect, identified as 34-year-old male Eduardo Cruz Vivero.
Vivero was transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked for aggravated assault (245(a)(1) PC), robbery (211 PC), and the outstanding warrant for his arrest out of San Mateo County, as well as the possession of narcotics paraphernalia (11364(a) HS), and possession of a controlled substance (11350(a) HS).
On February 21, 2026, despite the life-saving measures of the medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased in the hospital.
The SFPD Homicide Detail took over the investigation while Vivero was still detained in County Jail. The investigator amended Vivero’s arrest charge to reflect the homicide (187(a) PC).
