Deputy Chief Nicole Jones is a San Francisco Bay Area native. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Jones joined the San Francisco Police Department in 2007.

During her career, Jones worked as an officer at Tenderloin and Ingleside Stations. Upon promotion to sergeant, Jones worked in Investigations at both the Special Victims Unit and the Internal Affairs – Criminal Investigations Unit. As a lieutenant, Jones served in administrative roles at both the Chief’s Office and the Staff Services Division’s Staffing and Deployment Unit. Additionally, she served as a patrol lieutenant at Northern Station. As Captain, Jones was in command of Ingleside Station. Upon promotion to Commander, Jones was assigned to the Administration Bureau, followed by the MTA Division.

In July 2025, she was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief and is currently assigned to the Administration Bureau.
