SFPD to Implement New District Station Boundaries Oct. 1 26-113

On Thursday, Oct. 1, the San Francisco Police Department will roll out new boundaries at six district stations.

The SFPD is required under the city charter to review district station boundaries every 10 years to ensure we optimize police operations and efficiency.

SFPD worked with our district station captains, command staff, city legislators and community stakeholders to develop the best boundaries to meet the public safety needs of San Francisco.

The SFPD does not anticipate the changes will cause any disruption to service. Instead, the new boundaries will help ensure patrol operations are balanced when officers are responding to calls for service and incidents across the city.

SFPD has already adjusted resources to ensure our staffing meets any new demands at individual district stations.

The changes affect Central, Tenderloin, Northern, Southern, Richmond and Park Stations. Our other four police districts will not change.

Some of the changes include:

• Southern Station, which will now assume responsibility for both sides of Market Street

• Central Station, which will assume responsibility for an additional area west to Van Ness Avenue
