The purpose of this notice is to clarify incidents investigated by General Work and the field response. General Work on-duty hours are [Redacted] During the off-duty hours, DOC is to contact the on-call investigators directly at the cell phone numbers provided for that day. 

Incidents investigated by General Work: 

  • Stabbings and aggravated assaults with serious injuries not under the investigative scope
    of another unit (CVRT, SVU, et cetera)
  • All aggravated assaults/stabbings that result in an arrest
  • Assaults on police officers resulting in any injury or involving the use of any weapon
  • Credible threats to a police officer
  • General criminal threats
  • General felony vandalism
  • Non-firearm related felony weapon possession
  • Elder and dependent adult abuses by non-caregivers
  • Any other felony or misdemeanor crime designated for assignment by the General Work Lieutenant

General Work shall respond to: 

  • Stabbings and aggravated assaults with serious injuries not under the investigative scope
    of another unit (CVRT, SVU, et cetera)
  • Assaults on police officers resulting in any injury or involving the use of any weapon 
  • Incidents in which lack of response could result in the loss of evidence or otherwise
    negatively impact the investigation
  • Critical incidents that require the issuance of a search and/or arrest warrant not being handled by another unit (i.e. SVU, Homicide, et cetera)
  • Any incident where a Field Operations Bureau captain requests investigator response
  • Any incident of high media interest or deemed to require response by the assigning officer or OIC
