The San Francisco Bay Area will be one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup, which will take place throughout North America between June 11, 2026, and July 19, 2026. San Francisco will host the official Bay Area fan experience June 11-14, 2026. To commemorate what is considered the largest sporting event in the world, the San Francisco Police Department is allowing active duty sworn members in good standing to participate in the "FIFA World Cup Badge Program."

Smith & Warren has been licensed by FIFA World Cup to manufacture commemorative replica police stars and badges. The replica stars are designed to look like San Francisco Police stars with the FIFA World Cup insignia. These are the only stars officially licensed by the FIFA World Cup.

If members receive their commemorative star in time, the star may be worn with the Class B uniform starting Thursday, June 11, 2026 through Sunday, July 19, 2026.

The Homeland Security Unit will return any star ordered by anyone unauthorized to receive it, in which case the star will be returned to the manufacturer for destruction, and no refund shall be given.
