SFPD Arrests Bayview District Homicide Suspect #26-119(a)

On October 1, 2026, at approximately 5:11 PM, San Francisco Police officers responded to the 1100 block of Thomas Avenue regarding a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male victim who was suffering injuries from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid, and paramedics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries. Despite the lifesaving efforts of the medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased in the hospital.

The San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail responded to the scene and is leading the investigation. Through the course of the investigation, investigators identified the suspect as 44-year-old male Jorge Alberto Mendoza-Hernandez of San Francisco. Investigators developed probable cause to obtain a Ramey warrant for the arrest of the suspect.

On October 15, 2026, SFPD officers and Homicide Detail investigators located Mendoza-Hernandez on the 600 block of Gilman Avenue and placed him into custody. Officers transported Mendoza-Hernandez to San Francisco County Jail, where he was booked on the arrest warrant on the charge of homicide (187(a) PC).
