Effective 0600 hours on October 1st, 2026, the San Francisco Police Department will implement revised District Station and patrol sector boundaries.

The revised boundaries were developed following analysis of operational data and review by District Captains, Command Staff, and the Chief of Police.

The approved boundary changes affect the Central, Tenderloin, Northern, Southern, and Park Stations and are intended to improve workload distribution, balance calls for service and incident activity, and align patrol deployment with current operational needs.

Major changes to district and sector boundaries include:

  • Southern Station will assume responsibility for both sides of Market Street.
  • Central Station will assume responsibility for additional area westward to Van Ness Avenue, while Northern Station will retain responsibility for both sides of Van Ness Avenue.
  • Northern Station will decrease from six patrol sectors to five, while Southern Station will increase from seven patrol sectors to eight.

Updated district boundary maps and patrol sector maps are attached to and available through the links provided in this Department Notice.

Members shall familiarize themselves with the revised district and sector boundaries prior to implementation.
