26-001 Cancellation of Watches Off and Use of Discretionary Time Off 2026

To provide ample notice to members and prepare for 2026's largest deployments, the below lists of events and dates delineate the cancellation of both days off AND non-discretionary time off, OR just nondiscretionary time off.

Watches Off AND Discretionary Time Off Canceled

For the below listed large scale events, all officers, sergeants, & inspectors shall report for duty. This means, all days off ("H" days) are cancelled AND no days off (VA, OU, EH, FH, PE, LH, etc.) shall be granted:

Saturday, January 31, to Monday, February 9, 2026NFL Super Bowl LX
Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, June 14, 2026FIFA
Saturday, June 27 to Sunday, June 28, 2026Pride Weekend Events
Saturday, July 4, 2026Independence Day Events
Saturday, October 31, 2026Halloween
Thursday, December 31, 2026New Year's Eve

 

Discretionary Time Off Canceled

Commanding officers shall not authorize discretionary time off (VA, OU, EH, FHF, FH, PE, LH, etc.) for any member during the below listed dates:

Saturday, March 7, 2026Chinese New Year Parade
Sunday, May 24, 2026Carnaval
Tuesday, September 15 to Thursday, September 18, 2026Dreamforce
Saturday, October 10 thru Sunday, October 11, 2026Fleet Week

Commanding Officers shall forward all vacation requests that include any of the above-listed dates to the appropriate Bureau Chief for written approval.

If sufficient staffing is not obtained, watches off will be canceled in reverse seniority to staff events. Use of discretionary time-off will be reinstated once appropriate staffing is achieved.
