Commander Teresa Ewins was born in Santa Monica, California, and raised in Malibu and Danville. She attended college at Sonoma State, where she played on a soccer team that won the Division II Championship. Ewins is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and of a Harvard Kennedy School summer course in State and Local Government.
“At a young age, I wanted to be an officer and that desire never went away,” Ewins says. She joined the SFPD at age 30 and has never regretted that decision.
As Commander and liaison to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, Ewins’ job is to help protect public transit passengers from vehicular accidents and attempted terrorism.
